The Nordic Agency for Development and Ecology (NORDECO) is a Danish based social enterprise. We conduct research, build capacity, connect people, and support interventions on-the-ground – and we do consulting in international development.
Founded in 1990, NORDECO is wholly owned by the non-profit Nordisk Fond for Miljø og Udvikling, which promotes development and protection of natural resources through support of local, innovative initiatives.
We work in Africa, Latin America, Asia, the Arctic region, Eastern Europe, and Denmark for major national and international funding agencies including the World Bank, Global Environment Facility (GEF), Inter American Development Bank (IDB), European Union (EU), United Nations, Nordic Council of Ministers, Danish International Development Assistance (DANIDA) and Swedish International Development Assistance (SIDA).
NORDECO’s head office in Copenhagen, Denmark, supports a core team of dedicated senior biologists, anthropologists, foresters and environmental planners. This team is joined by several full-time technical field staff employed by the organisation on various long-term assignments.
NORDECO has several closely associated researchers we work with on a regular basis, and an extensive network of specialists in a wide range of disciplines.
We associate on a project-by-project basis with a number of local organisations in Latin America, Africa, Asia and the Arctic region with whom we have long-standing relations.
